Cafe Bakery Restaurant at 1365 Noriega St offers an intriguing blend of Chinese restaurant and bakery elements wrapped in a casual, no-frills dining atmosphere. Known locally for its sizable portions and hearty daily specials, this spot attracts a mix of longtime neighborhood regulars and curious visitors seeking comfort food with a touch of Hong Kong-style flair.

The dining experience here centers around traditional Chinese flavors served in generous portions that are perfect for sharing or saving for later. The environment is straightforward and bustling, especially around lunch and early dinner hours, which often means limited seats but quick turnover. The weekday daily specials, including dishes like pork chops in various sauces and curry beef, represent real value and showcase some of the restaurant’s best-loved plates. On Sundays, the roast pork special is a popular draw, making it a favored stop for those who appreciate a rich, savory meal anchored by classic Cantonese influences.

Many patrons rely on this spot for both comfort and variety—a combination of hearty meat options like oxtail stew, fried chicken wings, and baked pork cutlets alongside their signature Hong Kong-style teas, iced or hot. The iced lemon tea in particular is a simple yet refreshing accompaniment that complements the richness of the food.

The atmosphere leans towards casual and functional rather than trendy, making it ideal for occasions when the focus is genuinely on the food and straightforward service. This is not the place for a quiet café chat or romantic evening but suits those who want a no-nonsense, filling meal after work or on a weekend afternoon. The consistent presence of the jello dessert with meal combos adds a nostalgic touch that many locals seem to appreciate.

People who enjoy traditional Chinese comfort food with generous portions in a lively, somewhat utilitarian setting will find this a worthwhile stop. The space is often busy midday and early evening, so slightly off-peak times might provide a more relaxed experience. The ability to get food to go at a minimal container fee also means it’s a good option for takeout in the Outer Sunset neighborhood.

Had a great dinner, our first time. Recommended by a friend who goes regularly. A very different Chinese restaurant, they have great rib eye steaks, their daily specials are a great value! Tuesday's curry pasta dish was delicious. We will definitely be back and the lamb is next on the list to try.

We got here around 1pm and it was quite busy. We got a seat right away. We got the Sat special salt baked chicken thighs and a regular menu oxtail stew. We both opted for just more veggies and trust us, the amount of meat for both dishes will fill you up alone. Oxtail stew was absolutely delicious. I will come back here just for that dish. The chicken thighs were so tender and the skin was crispy. The milk tea was bomb and it is bottomless with any special order. We are definitely coming back for more.

We come here on Sundays to enjoy the special roast pork. It's really delicious. I grew up coming here, and now that I live away from the city, I always stop by when I'm back. The pork is slightly salty but goes well with rice. The portions are large, so we usually share. The special meal includes tomato soup and a drink of your choice. It's definitely worth trying.

I've been coming many times, and I love that they still serve jello with set meal combos. I enjoy their chicken steak with cream corn sauce and an ice-cold HK-style lemon tea. Highly recommend the big portions, perfect for sharing or saving for later (to-go containers are $0.25). They accept cash or card!

I only discovered this restaurant because my mom brought a to-go order home. It was a Baked Chicken with Portuguese Sauce that left such an impression that I had to bookmark and visit in person. We managed to stop in on a Saturday night, just before closing time at 8:00PM. The place was packed but we were able to get seated with 30 minutes to spare. It's a no frills restaurant with traditional Hong Kong cafe options. Most meals come with soup, veggies, rice, AND dessert! Each dish is not 10/10 crazy good but it will surely leave you satisfied.

#2 A Hong Kong café I’ve loved for a long time! Since the pandemic, many things have changed. Some businesses have thrived, while others that used to do well have started struggling. This place is one of the latter. In recent years, everything has become much more expensive, leading to significant changes in restaurant prices as well. This café is no exception. Once a spot where people would line up, it’s hard to find those scenes anymore. That said, this place is still delicious, still affordable, and still serves generous portions! They have daily specials, and they even serve jello for dessert! I love their pasta, pork chops, and milk tea—it’s all so good! #1 One place you might want to consider for a Hong Kong-style lunch cafe!! It offers generous portions and decent flavors for the price. Enjoy your meal in Hong Kong! Baked ham pasta with white sauce.
